13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

I prefer canon, but it is still fanfiction and we are allowed to adapt. I can’t say it has changed my views, but thinking of what motivates a character do deepen one's understanding.

Summary: River Song runs into Harold Saxon, quite by accident, when she is trying to steal from him.
AN: This little ficlet has buzzed around in my head since Dead Girls Like Me. Can be read alone, if one just knows that River had met the Master before and usually get along with him. But it takes place between A Little Drink Between Friends and Dead Girls Like Us.
